About Us

Thank you for taking the times to visit my website. I was inspired to create this site in May of 2020, while quarantined at home like so many others in the world at the time. I was fortunate enough to be at home with not only my wonderful partner in life, but also with my two adorable guinea pigs, Twix and Snickers.

Through most of my time at home, the loneliness and isolation I sometimes felt was muted by the fact that I had my furry potatoes to keep me company. I got to spend more time playing with them, cuddling them, talking to them, and hand feeding them. Time I would not have had otherwise. Truth be told, most of the time I spent at home was enjoyable. I was lucky to have them in my life at a time when so many others felt alone.

One day, I learned of a colleague who was looking to re-home her guinea pigs because her young daughters no longer had interest in them. While I commend her for doing the responsible thing by finding a forever home for the guinea pigs, I couldn’t help but think of how many other guinea pigs, or even other animals for that matter, that were adopted/rescued/bought during the pandemic, that would unknowingly find themselves living in temporary homes. It made me realize that people still need to be reminded that pets are not expendable, that pets are family. While under certain circumstances re-homing a pet is necessary and even kind, so many others are needlessly given up.

That was the jumpt start I needed to start this site and share what I know about guinea pigs, to anyone willing to listen or interested in knowing more. But I wanted this site to be more than that. I wanted to not just share how adorable and great furfamily members I know guinea pigs to be, I also wanted to share what I’ve learned over the years of being a piggie parent.

So, I’m laying it all here. What you need to know about guinea pigs, tips and tricks when it comes to their care, and of course, I am also sharing the adventures of my little furbabies, Twix and Snickers. I hope you will find this site helpful, and please feel free to leave comments so I can make this site a better one for you.
